Luklass  strives to ensure education for children and support sustainable development in the Khumbu Valley.

  • We  guarantee access to education to both women and men, with a focus on women’s conditions in order to promote their integration and development

  • We implement projects to enable adults acquire new skills and knowledge.
  • We help people to improve the local economy and start their own business
  • We execute our projects in close collaboration with communities of Lukla and Chaurikharka, helping them to respond to their essential needs and reduce poverty

What is more difficult: climbing on these forbidding mountains, or maintaining afloat a major education project in Nepal? Magnificent mountaineers, you achieve stature by reaching summits through acrobatic efforts, but you do not forget the education of children down below so that they can benefit from a different existence compared to their parents and grand-parents, porters of material at wide open heights!

Improved hygiene conditions at the schools stimulate awareness in the region of their importance


The local population is made up of several ethnic groups, for example: Sherpa, Tamang, Rai, Magar and others. The majority are Sherpas, best known for their mountaineering skills and gaining renown through Tenzing Norgay Sherpa who accompanied Sir Edmund Hillary when they were the first to reach the summit of  the wold’s highest mountain Mount Everest (8,848 meters) in 1953.
